Perhaps the most famous nail house in history was situated on a huge mound of dirt in Chonqing until April 2007, at which point it was demolished by exhausted developers after battling for 3 years and eventually parting with ¥1m. The house’s owner, Mrs Wu Ping, was the only person from 241 properties who refused to leave when asked in 2004 in order to make way for a new shopping centre.

Yay for the sometimes absurdly stubborn human spirit!

Of course, we Sydneysiders have got big mouths and #duststorm is trending on Twitter and we love to be the centre of attention and all, but WE ARE PUSSIES.

This was Broken Hill (a town about 14 hours drive from Sydney) yesterday.

Black. Now THAT’S a dust storm.

Looking out the window right now it’s sunny, the sky’s blue, and there’s just a little red dust stuck in the nooks & crannies. It’s hard to believe this is what Sydney looked like at dawn.

I hate mosquitoes.

What with all that buzzing and itching, the hubbub they cause is disproportionate to the microdrop of blood they make away with. Besides, I am the world’s most formidable mosquito hunter. I have brought to justice every single mosquito that has ever attacked me (except when I spend nights in rooms with patterned wallpaper, which makes mosquito hunting impossible).

It’s warming up in Sydney, so the buzzing’s starting again.

A little something something for the Sydney-siders today.

Just bought the album, thanks for making me aware of it Lach!

This is not today’s dust storm, but it’s a freakish, surreal demonstration of nature’s power anyway.

Does that look like something you would willingly drive into?
